About our expressive painting class
Posted by nyexpressivearts in events on September 24, 2010
Our ongoing expressive painting class meets the second Wednesday of each month from 7-9:30 p.m.
- We pair practical instruction on the use of materials, tempera paint and oil pastels (remember kindergarten?) with guidance on how to begin a spontaneous expressive painting and how to stay with the process until the expression emerges in color and shape. After cleaning up (simple soap and water), we spend time responding to the images, our own and those of others, using non-judgmental feedback and not interpretation or evaluation, often using other art modalities, such as writing, movement, sound.
- The classes are usually small: 4 to 8 or 9, which contributes to an intimate, safe and playful atmosphere. You will make a painting, but the essential thing you will take home is an experience of spending time with yourself in the company of others.
- Fee: $20 per class, or 10 classes for $150 (prepaid).
- All materials provided.
