NYEA adds advanced training in expressive arts

We are proud to be announcing advanced training in expressive arts beginning in Fall 2011. Training will take place over three 3-day sessions, one each during fall, winter spring of 2011/12.

The dates are as follows:

  • November 4, 5, 6, 2011
  • February 10, 11, 12, 2012
  • April 27, 28, 29, 2012

The curriculum will focus on application of expressive arts principles and practice in specific settings, as well as deepening each participant’s understanding of core theory. The learning approach will be a comprehensive blend of didactic lecture, interactive discussion and hands-on experiential, intuitive work/play. At least one year of expressive art training is required for admission to the program.

The lead training team will be Rebekah Windmiller and Denie Whalen.

A summer (& website) update!

We’re happy with the positive comments we have received about the new look for our website. Many thanks to Carolee Sherwood for all the creative energy that she has poured into updating the site and patiently teaching me how to maneuver through the process. We are continuing to refine our system and encourage our readers to send comments and contributions to our Bulletin Board.

Now that summer has officially arrived, I hope you will find your way to the studio for a Wednesday night painting class (July 13, August 10) or the next free Introductory workshop on July 9. More detailed information on both of these expressive opportunities can be found on the Bulletin Board. We are accepting registrations for the 2011-12 Expressive Arts Training Programs, as well, and you can find that information under the “training” tab above.

PSYCHODRAMA AND INNER AGGRESSION – OCTOBER 15 AND 16, 2011
This workshop is about all of us. It deals with the inter-relation between two parts within
us: the aggressor and the victim. The workshop is a dynamic, active unmasking process
using psychodrama, sociometry and expressive arts therapy methods in order to explore the different ways we internalize experiences in the role of the aggressor and the victim. Facilitated by YAACOV NAOR MA CAGS TEP, Founder and Director of ISIS ISRAEL: Psychodrama and Intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy Center in Tel-Aviv

Welcome to the new website for New York Expressive Arts

We’re changing how we do things at the New York Expressive Arts website, so please excuse our appearance in some places (in many places, actually! So much of the site is brand new and under construction). Please also excuse the barrage of posts below all with recent dates. Once we settle in and upload all of our information, there will be a more steady and sensible pace — and variety, too! — to the information you see here.

Say hello to us in the comments to let us know you found us, and if you have ideas or suggestions, please feel free to leave those here, too!
