NYEA at March Storytelling Conference

MESSAGE FROM DENIE-

Pre-conference seminar by New York Expressive Arts Collective a great success!!!!

After flirting with each other for years, storytelling and expressive arts have made contact after a a very successful first date at the Northeast Storytelling Conference in Albany on March 16 and continuing through this weekend. The 4-hour seminar explored several art modalities, slowly and with intention to build toward finding and leaning on each person’s inner guiding voice that had a story to tell. During the last hour, as we sat around our ‘camp fire’ of red threads and natural materials, we imagined our way in and through our stories, finally into the stories of our heart that were waiting to be told. Participants noted how a strong sense of community developed naturally through our time together, an environment that nurtured intuition, imagination and connection. Thanks to Judith Prest, Bekah Near, Dawn Collins and especially Lorraine Hartin-Gelardi who was the catalyst for our participation. Let’s do it again next year, Denie

I hope that anyone interested in how expressive arts principles and practice can be integrated into specific art modalities will join me and my colleagues at the Northeast Storytelling Conference for the pre-seminar on March 16 entitled, ‘TRUST THE PROCESS –  The Expressive Arts Approach to Storytelling.”

The new phone contact information for New York Expressive Arts is 518-729-3258. Both the mailing address at P.O. Box 3, Feura Bush, NY 12067 and the email address, denie@newyorkexpressivearts, remain the same. You can also reach me at denwhale@nycap.rr.com.

Please stay in touch and keep making art.

PSYCHODRAMA AND INNER AGGRESSION – OCTOBER 15 AND 16, 2011
This workshop is about all of us. It deals with the inter-relation between two parts within
us: the aggressor and the victim. The workshop is a dynamic, active unmasking process
using psychodrama, sociometry and expressive arts therapy methods in order to explore the different ways we internalize experiences in the role of the aggressor and the victim. Facilitated by YAACOV NAOR MA CAGS TEP, Founder and Director of ISIS ISRAEL: Psychodrama and Intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy Center in Tel-Aviv

Welcome to the new website for New York Expressive Arts

We’re changing how we do things at the New York Expressive Arts website, so please excuse our appearance in some places (in many places, actually! So much of the site is brand new and under construction). Please also excuse the barrage of posts below all with recent dates. Once we settle in and upload all of our information, there will be a more steady and sensible pace — and variety, too! — to the information you see here.

Say hello to us in the comments to let us know you found us, and if you have ideas or suggestions, please feel free to leave those here, too!
